Facebook tries to solve an entity resolution problem (who are you?). While useful for finding/keeping track of friends, it's way more useful for authentication. We've never had world-wide authentication before; when do finally get it, I don't want it owned and operated by one entity.

In order to poison Facepalm's entity resolution model, I'm deleting my account and will be adding a common name without photograph.

The best way I know of to "delete" a facebook account is to change your account into a developer test account here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Test_Accounts That takes the account completely out of contact with any "normal" facebook accounts. Of course, by all means delete data, etc. as well.
