The 2013 Singapore Arts Survey shows the decline in the viewing of live performances. The 2011 Report shows the decline starting first with the youth. Presumably the youth were also early tech adopters and are not viewing less art, rather they likely have shifted to online performances.

What can we do about this decline?

  1. Fight!
    Produce more locally referential works, e.g. the Wicklow News as referenced in MadeToStick
  2. Adapt!
    Record and distribute the works online, when IP rights do not preclude this

Seems the common solution involves pushing the maker-viewer balance more towards the makers.
