Apparently, engineering and science have overcome the difficulties of putting projectors in small low-power devices which will make sharing augmented reality views during the transition when not everyone has AR. Granted, it'll probably only work well for near-field views, otherwise, we'll have to snapshot a far-field view, and display the pic and AR overlay on some convenient flat surface nearby.

And if the camera can see the projection, that might make for keypad replacement. Which could suck immensely (bouncy hand = bouncy cam); I think we can work out those problems, though.


I've handled a Microvision Pico Projector; it is much too low power to do anything besides projecting in a dark room (~7 lumens, I think) - The energy density of batteries simply isn't high enough to justify more than that. -Theo
