The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt

Goldratt wrote this corporate detective novel to espouse his Theory of Constraints. His sleuth is the manager of a plant which is losing money and always in crisis mode. As he debugs his workplace and his relationships, he learns the precepts of the theory.

At the end of the book, Goldratt's sleuth globalizes, trying to use TOC for everything. It would have been much better if he had just cleanly wrapped up The Mystery of the Unworkable Factory.
