When I read posts like Umair Haque on Twitter,
I wonder whether web 2.0 just means that we'll have even bigger failures than web 1.0.

Web 1.0 coupled laudatory the-game-has-changed articles with companies that didn't make much money. Haque's commentary seems in line with web 1.0 pollyannaisms and twitter doesn't seem to be making much money.
Perhaps this generalizes to include facebook, and we get to witness more epic fail. ;)
hmm, i think facebook is making money, but i'm not 100% sure. i don't know about the whole corporation, but twitter does monetize (and well!) in japan.
