Arjun recommended Pinker's How the Mind Works. PSU now has study classes teaching the SQ4R method. For grins, I'll see if I can find neuro-reasons for each step, and what each step is.
While talking with other admins here at CTI, it became apparent that PSU doesn't require any philosophy or history of philosophy courses in the core curriculum. Talking about my tree of knowledge, the main trunk is two ideas twined together, empiricism (application of theory) and logical positivism (theory to understand patterns in general (math)). I guess PSU assumes all their students will major in something and adopt the current philosophy of that major, which certainly isn't very liberal. I guess PSU is becoming a trade school?
