I gave a talk on engineering payraises for one's self; psychology/economics has discovered quite a bit in the last 10-20 years, and it's not well disseminated. One of the findings is that people routinely under-estimate how valuable they are to firms and leave lots of money "on the table" when it comes to payraises. The talk walks people through figuring out their value and how to approach a payraise.
