One of the local tech mailing lists I'm on was spammed recently by a recruiter. After the requisite outpouring of derision, I pointed out that perhaps instead we should reach out to the local recruiting agencies and establish better communication.
It seems that we all just want to know when we're allocating time sub-optimally. If work with a better mix of job sat and earnings exists, we'd like to know about it. From what I've seen, all the companies in this space either don't do this, or seem to work, however, their incentives aren't aligned with talent.
Instead of career paths, people end up with career pathologies....
