People get drunk, wasted, and when they don't see God/Get The Answer, they turn to each other, or tend to their dreams. That's life in the Garden State.
Despite the fact that the protagonist is the only person I've seen roll X and not become a giddy 8-year-old, and other drug silliness (yeah, there's more), I can't help but like this film. It's got Life, Redemption, and Natalie Portman tickling our emotions til we catharsis. Which hasn't happened since IceStorm played on VHS in old 500NorthCollege. Add in a Quest, good music, visual fun, and good post-production timing, and you have a story worth watching.
