Lord Leslie Scarman's <a href="http://www.economist.com/people/displayStory.cfm?story_id=3518597">obituary</a> is worth a read, even though I suppose it quite forgiving.


<p>His work on the refactoring of statutory laws via England's Law Commission should be adopted by our legislatures. We should not tolerate cruft in our legal code.</p>
