Chester Cheever took advantage of Firefox's keyword.URL about:config and wrote a script to centralize keyword searches across browsers. So, instead of synchronizing bookmarks across browsers, you just update one config item and put your script with all your favorite online dictionaries (or whatever you search for) on a webserver someplace.

I wrote my own short version after reading the code and wondering whether facebook had similar ideas about security. ;)
