The Patriot by Robert Rodat, directed by Roland Emmerich

Made back in 2000, this film about the United States' splittist radicals in 1776 features two Australians, Charlestown South Carolina, and a lot of bloodshed. As it deals with insurgency and counter-insurgency tactics, it's an oddly well-timed piece on the eve of the Bush Jr v Saddam war.
