Twilight Samurai directed by Yoji Yamada.
Man lives at the end of an era and the beginning of a new one (modern Japan). Caught up in the changing times, his internal decisions are not as straightforward as a traditional samurai (honor + duty).
However, the story doesn't ring true as changing times tend to radicalize. As honor becomes less important to samurai, keeping the appearance of honor would go up. This fading world of samurai would have its own high tension conflict with the world around it, and we do not see this in the film.
