I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
internet, starving hysterical naked,
prostituting themselves through the faceless streets at dawn
looking for an angry fix,
angelheaded hipsters burning for knowing nods
from the ancient laugh-track machin-
ery of despair,
who twitch and tatter and hollow-eyed and high sat
baking in the loving darkness of
warm-water baths weighted with the joytears of the
un-con-temp-la-tive,
who bared their brains to Heaven and
saw the broken staggering on flickered tene-
ment roofs.
